“Pressure Cooker”

06 Dec

Does it seem to anyone else that the whole world is in a pressure cooker? It certainly seems that way to me. I know many seasoned Christians who are feeling like God has them in one. I guess that’s what refining gold is like. Turn up the heat, turn up the pressure, and out pop all the impurities.

It’s harder to praise God in the stressful times, but that’s where the rubber meets the road. Praise Him when you’re employed, praise Him when you’re not. Praise Him with a full belly, praise Him with an empty one. Praise Him surrounded by friends and family, praise Him when you’re lonely. Praise Him when you’re up, and praise Him when you’re down. Let everything that has breath…praise the Lord.

Lord thank you for the pressure cookers of life that refine and purify us into precious gold fit for a King’s crown. We praise you that you are good, no matter what happens. You care for us, your creation, and desire good things for us. You have a plan and a purpose for our lives. Plans to prosper us and not to harm us. Plans to give us a hope and a future. You are high and lifted up and all the world will praise your great name. May we bow our knees and proclaim that you are Lord now, while we get to do it voluntarily. May we thank you for troubles that bring about perseverance and strength to bear what is coming. Come quickly Lord Jesus. Amen and amen.
