Temporary Home

17 Mar

This is my temporary home.
Someday this home jammed tight with 10 people and all their stuff, this home of mismatched furniture and 40 year old decor, will be left behind. I will have a room in the house of God Himself. The most comfortable and beautiful room I can imagine can not hold a candle to the absolute perfection that He has chosen just for me.

Someday this imperfect body with it’s kidney stones, psoriasis, and aches and pains will be forever changed to a body that will never know pain, sickness, injury, disease. No struggles with weight or fatigue. It will be perfectly suited to what God has planned for me.

Someday this soul with it’s fleshly appetites; that 600 lb. sumo wrestler named “Flesh Woman” that I contend with every day will be put off. No more fighting depression, laziness, impatience, pride, greed, envy. My reality will become what Jesus died for me to have. His perfection will be mine.

Someday Lord, this horrible waiting will be over. Thank you for the hope we have in You. Thank you that little by little I am being made over, so a little more of “someday” becomes “today” each time I let You have your way. May I always remember:

This is my temporary home
It’s not where I belong.
Windows and rooms, that I’m passing through.
This is just a stop, on the way to where I’m going.
I’m not afraid because I know-
This is my temporary home.
